Students complete the required 30 hours of driver’s education through our Colorado state-approved program, either online at their own pace or in a classroom with certified instructors.
Eligible students may take their permit test with us starting at 14 years and 11 months, helping them avoid the DMV and stay on track to receive their permit on their 15th birthday.
After completion, families receive official documentation that may be submitted to Adams 12 Five Star Schools for up to 0.25 school credits, as well as documentation for licensing and insurance purposes.
Behind-the-wheel driving lessons help students apply what they’ve learned in real-world driving situations. Lessons are taught by state-approved instructors and are required for students seeking a driver’s license before age 16½. Online 30 Hour Self-Paced Course
Both our online and in-person driver’s ed programs are state-approved. Upon completion, Adams 12 students receive official completion documentation that may be submitted to their school to earn 0.25 school credits.
Completing a state-approved driver’s education program may also make students eligible for auto insurance discounts.
Beginning January 1, 2027, Colorado's 2027 driver's ed law will require all aspiring drivers under 21 to complete driver's education before getting a permit. Ages 15–17 will need a 30-hour course; ages 18–20 will need either the 30-hour course or a 4-hour driver awareness course.
American Driving Academy already offers state-approved 30-hour online and classroom courses, so students can start preparing now and avoid delays once the new law takes effect.

After completion, we provide official documentation for parents and students to submit to their school counselor or registrar. Final credit approval is determined by the school.

If you are new to Colorado or you don’t have driving experience, we offer driving lessons 7 days a week. These are 2-hour lessons with state-certified, patient, and friendly instructors.
