Your Path from Cedar Falcon to Colorado Driver
Colorado uses a Graduated Driver Licensing system. Here’s the full path — and where American Driving Academy plugs in.
Age 14 ½ — Begin the 30-Hour Course
Start Colorado’s required drivers education course. Take it online at home ($29.85) or at our Capitol Hill classroom ($150) on weekends and breaks.
Pass the Permit Knowledge Test
Once the course is done, sit the permit test at our office. ADA is an authorized testing site — skip the DMV line.
Age 15 — Pick Up Your Permit
Visit the DMV with a parent or guardian and your test results to receive your Colorado instruction permit.
Start Behind-the-Wheel Lessons
With your permit, begin lessons with a certified ADA instructor. Students under 16 ½ need at least 6 professional hours.
Hold the Permit 12 Months
Colorado requires a 12-month permit hold (if under 18) before the license test. Stack up practice hours with a parent.
Pass the License Road Test — $85
Road test with us: about 20 minutes, no parallel parking or highway driving. Pass and walk out a licensed Colorado driver.
