Your Path from Montview Knight to Colorado Driver
Colorado’s Graduated Driver Licensing system in six steps — and where American Driving Academy fits in.
Age 14 ½ — Start the 30-Hour Course
Begin Colorado’s required drivers education course. Online ($29.85) or in-person at Montbello ($150).
Pass the Permit Knowledge Test
Take the permit test at our office. ADA is an authorized testing site — no DMV trip needed.
Age 15 — Get Your Permit
Visit the DMV with a parent or guardian and your test results to receive your Colorado instruction permit.
Start Behind-the-Wheel Lessons
With your permit, begin lessons with a certified ADA instructor. Students under 16 ½ need 6 professional hours minimum.
Hold the Permit 12 Months
Colorado requires a 12-month permit hold (if under 18) before the license test.
Pass the License Road Test — $85
Road test with us: about 20 minutes, no parallel parking or highway. Leave with your Colorado license.
