If you would like to take our 30-hour class (permit test included) and do not plan on doing the 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training offered in our full program, the cost is $195. We offer Saturday and Sunday classes as well as week-long classes. In these classes, students learn about traffic rules and regulations, defensive driving, alcohol and drug usage, and many other important topics related to driving. The American Driving Academy’s 30-hour course costs $195 and includes the permit test. Students who complete the course and pass the test can get their permit. While the 30-hour course does not include the six hours of behind-the-wheel training that comes with the full course, it still gives students the instruction and knowledge they need before driving.
We offer flexible scheduling with weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and week-long sessions. In this permit prep test course, students will learn essential driving knowledge, including traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, the effects of alcohol and drug use on driving, and other important road safety topics.
Beginning January 1, 2027, Colorado's 2027 driver's ed law will require all aspiring drivers under 21 to complete driver's education before getting a permit. Ages 15–17 will need a 30-hour course; ages 18–20 will need either the 30-hour course or a 4-hour driver awareness course.
American Driving Academy already offers state-approved 30-hour online and classroom courses, so students can start preparing now and avoid delays once the new law takes effect.

Students must be 14 ½ years old to enroll in the 30-hour classroom course. Meeting this requirement allows them to take the permit test included in the course, helping them get one step closer to obtaining their learner’s permit.
Students will be given a permit test on the 4th day of class as long as they are at least 14 years and 11 months old.
A permit test will be administered on the fourth day of class to ensure students are adequately prepared. However, students must meet the minimum age requirement to be eligible for the test. If a student is not yet 14 years and 11 months old, they can schedule to take the permit test with us once they turn 14 years and 11 months old. We offer the permit test every week.

If you are new to Colorado or you don’t have driving experience, we offer driving lessons 7 days a week. These are 2-hour lessons with state-certified, patient, and friendly instructors.
You are required to pass the driver's license test in order to get your driver's license. After passing, you may be eligible to get your license that same day without even having to visit the DMV.
