The Bonforte Boulevard office in the Belmont neighborhood keeps the 30-hour class and every appointment that follows at one local address. Your teen returns there for the permit test, private lessons, and the drive test, with easy access from US 50 and I-25.
The Pueblo office is supported by American Driving Academy's statewide network of 16 Colorado locations.
More Than the Minimum
Colorado sets the required curriculum. We go beyond it with a workbook written for Colorado drivers, professional videos filmed on Colorado roads, discussion, games, and exercises built around safer choices.
American Driving Academy is one of only two AAA Approved schools in Colorado. We also work statewide with MADD Colorado and Bachus & Schanker on impaired driving and roadside readiness for new drivers.
Permit ages, practice hours, lesson rules, and drive-test timing can be hard to sort out. Pueblo families can call 7 days a week or visit our office for clear answers instead of guessing about the next step.
Support continues after the classroom course. Progress notes give home practice a purpose, and dash-camera review gives families a way to hold us accountable for the quality of every included behind-the-wheel lesson.
Why the Classroom Matters
Safe judgment starts with noticing what changed before choosing a response. In class, the instructor can pause a situation, ask what the teen saw, and let students compare answers. That makes the reasoning visible. A new detail about speed, space, visibility, or another driver's movement can turn the same rule into a different decision.
The same rule can demand a different choice as the road changes. A following distance that works on a quiet neighborhood street is too short at highway speed. An I-25 merge has to be planned before the lane ends. A mountain grade makes late braking harder to fix. Your teen works through those differences with an instructor before facing them from the driver's seat.
What Students Study
Over five class days, students work through 15 topics in order, with time for explanation, questions, practice, and review.
Who Teaches the Class
We look for instructors whose careers demanded preparation, patience, sound judgment, and clear teaching.
One-on-One Instruction
Road Ready and License Ready include six private hours, split into three 2-hour lessons. A patient, state-certified instructor works one-on-one with your teen in a dual-control, state-inspected car. Your family practices at home between visits.
No two Pueblo lessons follow the same route. The instructor starts with what your teen can do and chooses the next skill that needs attention. One lesson may focus on looking farther ahead and making decisions sooner. Later work can move to lane changes in traffic, parallel parking, freeway merging, downtown Pueblo, or mountain roads when your teen is ready.
After each lesson, you hear what your teen did well and what to practice next. The progress tracker records that guidance. The Lesson Review Promise lets families hold us accountable for the quality of behind-the-wheel training. All three lessons satisfy Colorado's six-hour rule for licensing before 16½.
The Last Requirement
Colorado driver license offices issue licenses but do not give the drive test. American Driving Academy is a State-approved third-party testing center, and state-certified examiners give more than 35,000 tests across Colorado each year.
License Ready ($570) includes the test, and bundling it costs less than adding Pueblo's standalone drive test to Road Ready. The drive test is not booked at enrollment. Your teen schedules it once Colorado's rules on age, permit-holding, practice, and training are met. Permit Ready and Road Ready families may purchase the test separately later.
The examiner gives directions but cannot teach or coach. After a passing result is recorded, eligible students can usually upgrade online, and Colorado mails the physical license.
Help Beyond Class
Finishing the class does not end the support your family gets. Your teen can retake the course to review it, parents can request a lesson review, and eligible graduates may qualify for insurance or AAA benefits.
Your teen can come back to the 30-hour course long after the certificate is issued. The original student may re-enroll at no charge whenever a refresher would help, subject to course availability. Families can also book instructor time for a new vehicle, a difficult road situation, or a question about what to practice next.
Every lesson is recorded, so you never have to take our word for how it went. Tell us within 7 days if you would like a visit looked at, and we will review that appointment and come back to you. The promise does not guarantee a license, test result, refund, free lesson, instructor or schedule change, or another outcome.
A completed course or a record of professional lessons may matter to some insurers. Ask your carrier which documents it accepts, who qualifies, and how any savings are worked out before you build a discount into the budget.
Some graduates qualify for a complimentary teen AAA membership through an active Colorado Primary Member. Enrollment, dependency, territory, renewal timing, expiration, and every other AAA rule decide eligibility.
HB24-1021 changes the education step for first permits beginning January 1, 2027. Applicants ages 15 through 17 will need a 30-hour driver education course. Those ages 18 through 20 may use that course or a 4-hour driver awareness program.
Pueblo's five-day classroom program already provides the required 30 hours, including for students who finish before the law takes effect.
The new permit rule does not replace professional driving instruction. A teen seeking a license before age 16½ must complete six hours of professional instruction at an approved driving school.

Course completion may open a roadside-assistance benefit for families who already hold AAA membership. An eligible teen dependent can receive a complimentary membership tied to an active Colorado AAA Primary Member, ending on that member's renewal date. Nothing is automatic or standalone. AAA decides eligibility, enrollment, territory, and other program terms. Confirm the current rules before relying on the benefit. Both paths fulfill the same Colorado requirements for a permit and license.
The classroom fits teens who learn best with a live instructor, a set five-day schedule, and other students discussing the same Colorado situations.
All 30 hours happen in person at Bonforte Boulevard, where the instructor can revisit a topic and guide group discussion.
Online may fit better when your teen prefers self-paced work and needs to fit driver's ed around school, sports, a job, travel, or family plans.
Pueblo online packages remain Colorado-specific and may still include the permit test, private lessons, and the drive test.
Pueblo classroom packages cost $195 for Permit Ready, $495 for Road Ready, and $570 for License Ready. Every package includes the five-day, 30-hour class and permit test. Road Ready covers six hours of lessons, while License Ready also covers the Colorado drive test and $25 sibling discount.
Students may begin the 30-hour classroom course at 14 years and 6 months. Starting around 14½ gives a teen time to finish class, take the permit test at 14 years and 11 months, and receive the permit on the 15th birthday or later.
A minor can first become eligible at age 16. The student generally must hold the permit for 12 full months, record 50 supervised hours including 10 at night, complete any required professional instruction, pass the drive test, and satisfy current DMV rules.
Classes are scheduled on weekends during the school year and in fall, winter, spring, and summer breaks. Each class spans five days and usually meets from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Current Pueblo dates appear when a package is selected.
Six hours through an approved driving school are generally required when a teen plans to receive a license before age 16½. A student licensing later may not need them, although professional lessons can still improve observation, control, confidence, and readiness.
Lessons are tailored to your teen's current skill. As control improves, instruction may include downtown Pueblo traffic, freeway entry, and mountain driving with grades, curves, and changing conditions. No single route or skill sequence is promised for every appointment.
ADA Safety Advantage™ belongs only to the original student and cannot be transferred. Complimentary re-enrollment applies to the American Driving Academy 30-hour driver education course and may be completed online or in person, subject to course availability, platform availability, and enrollment policies. It does not include permit tests, behind-the-wheel lessons, drive tests, private tutoring, state fees, third-party charges, or other paid services. Instructor support must be scheduled and remains subject to availability.
The benefit carries no cash value. It remains available during the original student's lifetime while American Driving Academy continues operating and continues to offer the applicable course or support service.
The Lesson Review Promise applies to behind-the-wheel lessons provided by American Driving Academy. When a student or parent is dissatisfied, American Driving Academy will examine the lesson experience and follow up with the student or parent. The promise does not guarantee a license, drive-test result, test eligibility, skill level, refund, free lesson, instructor change, schedule change, or another specific outcome. Documentation, footage availability, scheduling, and program policies govern the review and follow-up.
Colorado permit and license requirements vary with the student's age, permit date, training history, supervised hours, documents, and current DMV rules. A student may begin the 30-hour driver education course at 14 years and 6 months and may take the permit test with American Driving Academy at 14 years and 11 months. The permit may be issued at age 15 after course completion, a passing permit-test result, and the required DMV process.
A Colorado minor must hold the permit for 12 full months before applying for a license. A student seeking a license before age 16½ generally needs six hours of behind-the-wheel training through an approved driving school. Exceptions may apply. Families must confirm current Colorado DMV requirements before permit issuance, drive testing, or licensing.

If you are new to Colorado or you don’t have driving experience, we offer driving lessons 7 days a week. These are 2-hour lessons with state-certified, patient, and friendly instructors.
You are required to pass the driver's license test in order to get your driver's license. After passing, you may be eligible to get your license that same day without even having to visit the DMV.
