Pueblo behind-the-wheel driving lessons give you two hours of driving with a patient, state-certified instructor. Teen and adult lessons cost $140. Family-owned since 1999, we teach safe habits and sound judgment that matter long after the drive test. Our training and safety practices exceed state standards, and every instructor is vetted and receives ongoing training. Most Colorado teens licensing before 16½ need six hours through an approved driving school during the permit year. Pueblo students complete the requirement in three private 2-hour lessons with a state-certified instructor. After the last lesson, American Driving Academy records the training in the DMV system and provides the DMV completion certificate. The family also receives a separate certificate for insurance records.

Lesson one: establish control before adding traffic
Begin in an open area, then move onto quiet Pueblo streets once steering, braking, and speed are steady.
Lesson two: add parking and larger roads
Add parking areas, larger intersections, and Northern Avenue traffic after the earlier skills are consistent.
Lesson three: add highway speed and grades
When the foundation is steady, practice may include US 50, I-25, and mountain roads west of Pueblo.
Six hours do not mean every driver completes every item. The instructor may stay with an earlier skill before adding higher speeds or heavier traffic. Colorado requires the training time, not this full outline. State certification is the starting point. Ongoing training covers effective teaching, lesson safety, and assessing a student's readiness before advancing to more demanding roads.
American Driving Academy hires educators, veterans, former law enforcement professionals, licensing specialists, and experienced drivers. We value calm instruction, clear explanations, and corrections that help a student improve without increasing anxiety.
Every instructor is fingerprinted before teaching students. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation checks those prints against the FBI's national database, and American Driving Academy repeats the screening every year for active instructors.
After the drive, the instructor explains what improved, which skills need more work, and what the student should practice with a parent or supervising driver. Those notes go into the Lesson Progress Tracker, giving families a written record and a clear purpose for the next home drive.

The insurance certificate does not guarantee a discount. The company decides eligibility, paperwork, and any change to the policy.
Dash cameras run during every lesson. If a student or parent reports a concern, American Driving Academy can review footage still available, speak with the instructor, and respond directly. Contact us within 7 days because recordings may be overwritten. This gives families a way to hold us accountable for the quality of behind-the-wheel training.

If you are new to Colorado or you don’t have driving experience, we offer driving lessons 7 days a week. These are 2-hour lessons with state-certified, patient, and friendly instructors.
You are required to pass the driver's license test in order to get your driver's license. After passing, you may be eligible to get your license that same day without even having to visit the DMV.
