Centennial behind-the-wheel driving lessons give each driver a patient, state-certified instructor. Teen driving lessons and adult driving lessons are two hours and cost $160. Family-owned since 1999, we teach safe habits and sound judgment that remain important long after the drive test. Every instructor is carefully vetted, and our ongoing training and safety practices extend beyond state standards. A clear teaching plan guides each private driving lesson, dash cameras in every car support our Lesson Review Promise, and the Lesson Progress Tracker gives families the next practice goal.

Choose Your Lesson
Most Colorado teens who want a license before 16½ need six professional hours through an approved driving school during the permit year. Centennial teens complete them in three private 2-hour lessons with a state-certified instructor. After the final lesson, American Driving Academy records the training in the DMV system and provides a DMV completion certificate and a separate certificate for insurance records.
Adults book Centennial lessons for many reasons. Some are first-time drivers, some are new to Colorado, and others want practice before the drive test. The instructor uses the appointment for the skills that matter most.

Lesson one: establish control before larger roads
Begin in an open area, then use neighborhood streets after braking, steering, and speed become consistent.
Lesson two: add parking, lanes, and faster roads
Add parking, multi-lane traffic, and higher-speed entry and exit when the fundamentals hold together.
Lesson three: add dense traffic or changing grades
Advanced practice may include downtown Denver or hilly roads toward Parker, depending on traffic and the driver's needs.
Six hours do not mean every driver completes every item. The instructor may continue an earlier skill before adding faster roads, dense traffic, or steeper grades. Colorado requires the training time, not the full outline. For every Colorado teen licensing before 16½, three 2-hour lessons meet the requirement, and American Driving Academy provides the DMV and insurance certificates.
Schedule a LessonStudents train in a vehicle approved for professional instruction and maintained on a routine schedule. A passenger-side brake and instructor mirror let the instructor respond when needed while the student keeps practicing.
State certification sets the baseline. American Driving Academy continues training instructors in clear teaching, lesson safety, and evaluating whether a student is ready for more demanding roads.
Our team includes educators, military and law enforcement veterans, professional drivers, licensing specialists, and parents who have taught their own teens. We value calm instruction, useful explanations, and corrections that build skill without adding pressure.
Before an instructor teaches, CBI checks their fingerprints against the FBI's national database. American Driving Academy repeats that screening annually for every active instructor.
After the appointment, the instructor explains what improved, which skills need work, and what the student should practice with a parent or supervising driver. The notes go into the Lesson Progress Tracker, giving families a written record and a plan for the next home drive.
Once the three 2-hour appointments are complete, American Driving Academy enters all six hours in the DMV system and issues the DMV completion certificate. Families receive a separate certificate to keep with insurance records.
The insurance certificate does not guarantee a discount. The carrier decides eligibility, paperwork, and any change to the policy.
Dash cameras record each lesson. If a student or parent raises a concern, we will review footage if available, speak with the instructor, and respond directly. Report the concern within 7 days because recordings may be overwritten. This gives families a practical way to hold us accountable for behind-the-wheel training quality.

If you are new to Colorado or you don’t have driving experience, we offer driving lessons 7 days a week. These are 2-hour lessons with state-certified, patient, and friendly instructors.
You are required to pass the driver's license test in order to get your driver's license. After passing, you may be eligible to get your license that same day without even having to visit the DMV.
