After the course, many students take the permit test online with the state for under $10. Then they book the drive test with a local provider, once they have held the permit for 12 months or reached their 18th birthday, whichever comes first.

Your student can do the 30-hour course from anywhere, so pick the city they can get to easily for the rest of it: the permit test, the driving lessons, and the drive test. Every location offers all three. Choose the one that is closest to home, school, or work.
This page is for online packages. The course runs at your student's pace, on their own schedule, which suits a teen juggling school, sports, or a job. If they would rather sit in a room with an instructor and classmates, we teach the same 30-hour course in person at every location, and you can see those on the classroom driver's ed page.
Both versions are state approved and both count the same toward a Colorado permit. The in-person half of the package, permit test, lessons, and drive test, is identical either way.
Every package starts with the same state-approved 30-hour course, taken online whenever it suits your student. From there the package adds the in-person parts at the city you choose: the permit test in our office, driving lessons with a patient instructor in a dual-control car, and the drive test that gets them licensed. A few cities also add Driver Skills Day, defensive training your student does after the license is in hand.

This covers the class requirement and nothing else, so it fits a student who already has their lessons and testing sorted out. Worth knowing before you pick it: a teen who wants a license before 16½ needs six hours of lessons, and those are not part of this.

Your student can start the 30-hour online course at 14 years and 6 months. Starting around then leaves time to work through the course, take the permit test at 14 years and 11 months, and pick up the permit on the 15th birthday or later.
Beginning January 1, 2027, HB24-1021 requires first-time permit applicants ages 15 through 17 to complete a 30-hour driver education course, and the online course on this page satisfies it. Driving lessons are a separate requirement: six hours with an approved driving school are generally required for a teen who plans to be licensed before age 16½.
It teaches the same state-approved 30-hour curriculum and counts the same toward a Colorado permit. The difference is how your student takes it. Online runs at their pace on any device, and the classroom version runs on a set schedule with an instructor in the room. Everything after the course is identical: the permit test, the driving lessons, and the drive test.

If you are new to Colorado or you don’t have driving experience, we offer driving lessons 7 days a week. These are 2-hour lessons with state-certified, patient, and friendly instructors.
You are required to pass the driver's license test in order to get your driver's license. After passing, you may be eligible to get your license that same day without even having to visit the DMV.
