You drive for two hours with a state-certified instructor. Colorado Springs behind-the-wheel driving lessons cost $150 for teens and adults. Find the Right Lesson
Most Colorado teens seeking a license before 16½ need six hours through an approved driving school. Colorado Springs students complete them during the permit year as three private 2-hour lessons with a state-certified instructor. After the final appointment, American Driving Academy records the training in the DMV system and provides a DMV completion certificate. Families also receive a separate certificate for insurance records.

Lesson one: build basic control before traffic
Begin in an open practice area, then move to calm neighborhood streets once speed and steering are controlled.
Lesson two: add parking and larger intersections
Add parking areas, lane choices, and larger intersections, with Academy Boulevard traffic when the driver is ready.
Lesson three: add freeway speed and mountain grades
When earlier skills are steady, the lesson may include I-25 and mountain roads west of Colorado Springs.
Six hours do not mean every driver will cover every item. The instructor may spend more time on an earlier skill before adding heavier traffic or higher speeds. Colorado requires the training time, not completion of this entire outline. For every Colorado teen licensing before 16½, three 2-hour lessons fulfill the requirement, and we provide the DMV and insurance certificates.

Every instructor is fingerprinted before working with students. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation checks the prints against the FBI's national database, and American Driving Academy repeats the screening each year for active instructors.
At the end of the appointment, the instructor reviews what improved, which habits need attention, and what the student should practice with a parent or supervising driver. The notes are added to the Lesson Progress Tracker after every lesson, giving families a record of what was covered and a clear focus for the next home drive.
After three 2-hour lessons, American Driving Academy records the six hours in the DMV system and provides a DMV completion certificate. Families also receive a separate certificate for insurance records.
A completion certificate does not guarantee a discount. The carrier decides eligibility, required documents, and any change to the policy.
Dash cameras run during every lesson. If a student or parent reports a concern, American Driving Academy can review footage still available, speak with the instructor, and respond directly. Contact us within 7 days because the recording may be overwritten. This gives families a way to hold us accountable for the quality of behind-the-wheel training.

If you are new to Colorado or you don’t have driving experience, we offer driving lessons 7 days a week. These are 2-hour lessons with state-certified, patient, and friendly instructors.
You are required to pass the driver's license test in order to get your driver's license. After passing, you may be eligible to get your license that same day without even having to visit the DMV.
