After completing the 30-hour course, take the permit test with us. We’re an authorized testing site — no DMV visit needed.
Visit the DMV with your test results and a parent/guardian to receive your Colorado instruction permit.
With permit in hand, begin behind-the-wheel lessons with our certified instructors. Students under 16.5 need 6 hours of professional instruction.

Students must be at least 14 years and 6 months old to begin the 30-hour drivers education course. Behind-the-wheel driving lessons require a valid Colorado instruction permit, which can be obtained at age 15 after completing the course and passing the permit knowledge test.
Yes. American Driving Academy is an authorized testing site. Students can complete the 30-hour course and take their permit knowledge test with us — no trip to the DMV required. The permit test is included in several of our course packages.
Both satisfy Colorado’s 30-hour classroom requirement. The online course is self-paced and can be completed from home anytime. The in-person course is held at our Fountain Blvd classroom on weekends and during school breaks, offering a more structured, instructor-led experience. Both prepare students equally well for the permit test.
In-person classes are offered on weekends and during weeks when Harrison schools are on holiday break, so they don’t conflict with the school day. Driving lessons are available 7 days a week by appointment.

If you are new to Colorado or you don’t have driving experience, we offer driving lessons 7 days a week. These are 2-hour lessons with state-certified, patient, and friendly instructors.
You are required to pass the driver's license test in order to get your driver's license. After passing, you may be eligible to get your license that same day without even having to visit the DMV.
